Former Ohio State defensive end Dre’Mont Jones wants to set the record straight about where he’d like to play this season.
In a tweet Thursday, Jones addressed fans of his current team, the Denver Broncos. Jones stated that he wants to be a Bronco for as long as possible.
The defensive end will be an unrestricted free agent, available to sign with any team in the league.
The Broncos will likely look for a way to keep Jones in free agency. He was the team’s best pass rusher last season, leading Denver with 6.5 sacks in 13 games. That number tied Jones’ career high, which he set in 2020.
The defensive end has spent all 4 seasons of his career with the Broncos after they took him in the 3rd round of the 2019 draft.
Jones raised his stock significantly with an impressive final campaign for the Buckeyes in 2018. He racked up 8.5 sacks, good for second on a defensive line that also included Chase Young and Nick Bosa.
With a new head coach in Sean Payton who wants to establish a culture change in Denver, it’s fair to assume there will be some roster turnover.
It sounds like Broncos fans are hoping Jones sticks around.
