Of all the people who congratulated LeBron James on breaking the NBA all-time scoring record, no one did it quite like Paul Pierce.
Pierce and James had some monumental Eastern Conference playoff battles over the years, establishing a little bit of a rivalry in the process.
Still, after James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Tuesday night, Pierce couldn’t help but pay homage, albeit in rambling fashion.
“Honor to say I had a chance to match up with The GaoT I’ve alway never acknowledged u as King but u Truly the King #lRespect no player in NBA History had the pressure coming in the league to exceed expectations not only have u live up to it but u have surpassed it #allhailtheKing,” Pierce wrote on Twitter.
Looks like The Truth might have been sipping a little bit before firing that tweet off. That would explain the typos and misspellings.
Pierce has called LeBron the “GOAT” before and acknowledged that their rivalry, while intense, was never personal.
Still, this was quite the way for him to salute The King on his latest accomplishment.
