‘Frontrunner’ For Derek Carr Trade Has Emerged

Derek Carr took a visit to New Orleans on Wednesday to meet with the Saints organization.

The Raiders recently granted him permission to meet with any team that agrees to their compensation details in a possible trade.

This is Carr’s first and only visit with a prospective team so far, making the Saints the frontrunner to land the veteran quarterback ahead of the 2023 season.

“The Saints are the frontrunner for Derek Carr and it’s a place that would make a ton of sense for him,” NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said during a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

The Raiders benched their longtime quarterback with two games remaining in the 2022 regular season. If they can’t find a team willing to trade for Carr this offseason, they’ll be forced to cut him loose to free agency.

The asking price for Carr is reportedly a 3rd-round pick plus compensation.
