EastEnders will not air a new episode this evening (February 8), and you can consider us well and truly devastated.
Excuse us while we wipe the tears away from our eyes.
The reason for the BBC One soap’s sudden absence from the TV schedules is (yes, you guessed it) due to the FA Cup, which commences at 7:30pm.
Sunderland will take on Fulham in the fourth-round replay.
If, like us, you’ve found EastEnders to be absolutely essential viewing over the past year then you’ll likely be upset by this news.
The next outing of the serial drama would’ve picked up following the previous, which proved instrumental for Emma Harding, played by Emmerdale’s Patsy Kensit, as she filled Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) in on the reasons for abandoning her as a baby.
The newcomer told Lola that she hadn’t wanted to leave, but that one night Lola’s father had thrown a kettle of boiling water over her, leaving her in hospital for months with burns.
Emma explained that she went back to find Lola after being released from hospital, only to realise that they had gone.
EastEnders will air its next episode, the one originally intended to air this evening, on Thursday (February 9) at 7:30pm, and it will see Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) confront Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) in heated scenes.
If you simply cannot wait that long, then you’ll be pleased to know that you can stream the episode from 6am tomorrow on BBC iPlayer.
In the meantime, you can get your soap fix this evening with new episodes of Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Coronation Street, all of which have interesting developments on the cards.
EastEnders continues Thursday February 9 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
